Yahoo messed up. In introducing their new Yahoo Webmail Beta, they blocked all POP and SMTP access (a.k.a. people using Outlook or other mail clients) to their mail services, until you login via webmail and click thru two screens. This has affected all of their business service clients, dsl clients using pop access, and people who have upgraded their free Yahoo accounts to Premium accounts by paying a small yearly fee.

Oh yeah, well I’ve got one better.
Yahoo recently lost my acount with them. mint_chaos@yahoo.com seems to be gone for good. I’ve had that account for nearly ten years. Which in internet years is damn near forever.
It’s just gone. I know I’m using the correct password cause it was saved in my Adium keychain. And I tried to do password recovery but it can’t find an account that matches my info. Password recovery requires my birthdate and zip-code, I’ve only had one of the former and two of the latter. But no dice.
I’ve thought about emailing them about it, but seriously, what are they going to do? Sigh.
Ten years!
My first draft of this post explained that they have basically cut off hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of their users who have no idea how to fix the problem, and will basically be stuck trying to get their mail with no freakin clue… Talk about overloading your call centers because of one programming mistake… Idiots
You’re a nerd… that’s all I thought when I read this nerdy post. ”...nuf said”
